Meet the Team: Committed & Equipped
Grace previously has taught elementary school for two years, English abroad at an elementary school, and preschool for 5 years. She graduated from Concordia University, Irvine with a BA in Liberal Arts. She also hold a Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential. She is in the progress of obtaining her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with the emphasis in Early Childhood Education dual English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Her hope is that HUG Preschool will be a place where children and families can come play, grow, and build relationships; and all in a community that fosters God’s love.
LCHS Director of Christian Education
Allan will continue to serve as the Director of Christian Education (DCE). He has over 20 years of experience working with youth and families. He founded the still-thriving Help-U-Learn (HUL) After School Tutorial in 1998 and Summer Day Camp (BIG SDC) ministry in 2003. Currently, Allan coordinates and develops leadership praxis and spiritual formation with many volunteers and young leaders from LCHS.
He is excited to minister to families and to work alongside Grace and Vicki to develop a comprehensive preschool.
Vicki has been working in the classroom teaching math and science for the past seven years. She has served in the church nursery with kids and families for the past 8 years and in the Summer Day Camp ministry for over 15 years. Vicki obtained her B.A., teaching credentials, and Master’s in Education from the University of California, Riverside. She obtained her Lutheran Teaching Certification and has just finished her program in Missional Coaching and leadership development. She will work closely with families and school staff in training and development.
She is excited about this new chapter and to get to know the kids and families.
Terilyn is beginning her second year of teaching at a preschool. She attended San Francisco State University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Education. She worked at a summer camp for 4 years throughout college and within those few years, her passion for teaching children became stronger. Being able to be an example to them as they grow, guiding them through their development, and watching them learn by social interactions with other friends at school is a rewarding aspect of being a teacher.
As a teacher at HUG, she hopes to be able to provide a safe and loving environment for your children to learn and develop.
Music has always been a passion of Helen's, and she is so excited to be sharing this passion with our students! One of her earliest memories is singing songs and learning hand motions from her teachers in Pre-K. She believes we are all created to be creative, and music is one of the many ways through which we can express that creativity.
Helen is a member of the worship team at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit and also enjoys singing in the car with her toddler, Marshall. When she's not playing or making music, you will probably find her reading or blowing bubbles at the neighborhood playground!
